One of the hottest trends in the writing industry is the GPT-3. There are a lot of softwares in the market right now that use AI to write content. And they all use the GPT-3 model.

GPT-3 is still in its early phase and some believe it to replace human writers. Whether it can replace it or not is a different topic. But it definitely can be used as a tool for writers to improve their productivity.

In this article, I will show you how you can use the GPT-3 AI writing tool inside obsidian to improve your note-taking workflow.

API key for GPT-3

To use GPT-3 in obsidian, we need to create an API key from OpenAI. Here is the step-by-step guide to create an API key.

  • Go to
  • Sign up for an account. You can use google, Microsoft, or any other e-mail address.

On your first signup, you will get an $18 free account which is enough for personal use and experimenting.

  • Go to your profile icon and click on ‘View API Keys’ and create a new API.
  • Now, copy the key to your clipboard.

GPT-3 Pricing Model

AI writers like jasper, copyai are extremely high-priced though they use GPT-3. But GPT-3 has simple and flexible pricing. They charge only for what you use.

The Ada model is priced at $0.0004/1k tokens. You can think of tokens as words. They say 1000 tokes is nearly equal to 750 words. This means with $0.0004, the AI can generate 750 words.
