How to Take Notes While Reading on The Web
No more copy pasting

Services like Pocket, Instapaper & raindrop allow users to save online articles and webpages to read them later. These services also have a highlighting feature that makes it easier to take out the key ideas.
Most of them are also integrated with readwise. This makes it easy to move notes & highlights between different note-taking apps.
But when it comes to web highlighting and note-taking, there are not many services. And when it comes to integration with obsidian, I guess there are any popular ones.
In this article, I will show you a better way to highlight the web and take notes while browsing. You will have a direct integration with obsidian, so you don’t have to do the copy-pasting.
The chrome extension that comes to the rescue
I’ve talked about this in my previous article too. But it has been updated to a newer version and it allows you to directly store your web highlights in your obsidian vault.
The plugin that I’m talking about is Eloquent chrome extension. This is an underrated plugin as the chrome data shows only 5,000 users. But it's better than other web highlighters in the following ways:
- Allows you quickly capture ideas from anywhere with a keyboard shortcut
- Allows you to highlight text on the webpage and copy it as text in a new window
- Easy shortcuts and snippets to optimize your workflow
- Take notes using [[double brackets]], #tags, and nested bullets(Markdown)

Setting up eloquent
Follow the steps:
- Download and install eloquent extension from the chrome web library
- After installation, click on the eloquent icon on the extension bar, and you will see login info.
